Self-defence

There have been times throughout history when our own political and religious institutions have metered out appalling violence to us the citizens, in many cases the people have fought back out of sheer necessity when all democratic means have failed. In our own times we have seen the Arab spring uprisings that spread throughout much of the Muslim world replacing some of the leaders on the way, we have seen fierce rioting in Greece and Spain due to austerity measures imposed on there respective countries by the IMF and banking system, and we have seen Iceland imprison and kick the corrupt Bankers out of their country, whilst also creating a new peoples rights charter in the process. Some revolutions and developments of social movements will carry with them various degrees of self defence depending on what they are faced with. In our times we are faced by a force that is incredibly destructive and relentless in its assault on the well being of people and planet.

Neoliberalism will stop at nothing

Here in 2013 we are confronted with the political force of Neoliberalism, this ideology lets nothing get in the way of making profit for a tiny minority, this ideology forces people with terminal illnesses like cancer into the workplace, this ideology keeps millions in poverty and has murdered hundreds of thousands of women and children for the sake of oil and lucrative clean-up contracts. dead_iraqi_children6pl

Neoliberalism and its policies are quite literally killing people and planet as it squeezes peoples time and energy and natures resources ever tighter in the name of growth and profit, and with every day that this ideology becomes policy it wrecks our social structures, whilst giving away our collective contributions to prop up greedy and failed banks. I could go on all day long about how destructive Neoliberalism and the Banking sector are, but it wouldn’t change a thing other than perhaps depressing the reader.

When will we fight back?

The pivotal point for our time is when people will get so tired with being attacked and robbed by this ideology that they take to the streets on mass. It would be reassuring to think that the future might be bring with it peaceful revolutions and lets certainly hope this it goes this way, but this is highly unlikely as Neoliberalism will continue to make us work longer and longer hours for lower and lower pay, whilst continuing their relentless slash and burn assault on mother nature. raisedfist1This ideology is engaging in a vicious ongoing assault on people and planet and it is with some considerable urgency that this ideology needs to be torn to pieces and thrown in the dustbin of history. Resistance to Neoliberalism in the UK has largely come from pressure groups, Trade Unions and activists as you would expect, whilst the larger population  continues to buckle under the strain of long hours, low pay and the ever looming threat of joblessness. It is only a matter of time before there is large scale civil unrest in the UK, this will only occur when large numbers of people can no longer take being shat on from a great height, this could come sooner than we think with ever rising food prices and ever falling wages.
